Mangaluru, Mar 12: On the occasion of International Women's Day the women's wing of Mary Vishwa Rani Parish, Ranipura on Sunday March 11 organised a medical camp exclusively for women at Ranipura Church hall .

Fr Santhosh D Souza, parich priest, Ranipura Church inaugrated the programme. Jane Shanthi, standing committee chairman, Ullal municipality, Naveen D'Souza, vice president, parish council, Dr Wilma D'Souza, HOD, Homeopathic department, Fr Muller Hospital, Mangaluru, Wilma D'Souza, ward member, Munnur panchayat, Sr Neeta and Sr Dr Mable were present on the dais.

In his inaugral speech Fr Naveen said, "International Women's Day reminds us of women empowerment. It refers to raising and improving the social, economic, political and legal strength of women and to ensure gender equality. The days of women limited to only the kitchens are gone. They fought for their freedom and now society has accepted their freedom, but struggle is still visible as clarity for this freedom is needed.

I congratulate 'Sthree Sanghatan' of our parish for this unique programme which will help women a lot. They can attend these type of programmes without any hesitation. These programmes will help increase their self confidence."

After the inauguration Dr Wilma D Souza delivered a talk on the subject 'Health issues of women'.

A medical camp was later held under the leadership of the doctors of Fr Muller Homeopathic Hospital, Deralakatte.

Laveena D'Souza, president, Sthree Sanghatan, Ranipura welcomed the gathering. Lethicia D'Souza, secretory rendered the vote of thanks.
