The event titled 'Voparinchi Saanz' ('An Evening of Parables'), portrayed the Biblical parables of 'The Prodigal Son', 'Foolish and Wise Virgins', 'Lost Sheep', 'Three Servants given Talents' and 'Four Types of Soil’. Various artistes performed the drama to the accompaniment of background music, song and dance.
In his speech, Fr Peter Cyprian D'Souza, advisor of Capuchin, Karnataka Province, said, "'An Evening of Parables' is a unique programme directed by Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza. Explaining the parables, Fr J B Crasta, rector and priest of Rosario Cathedral said, "A parable is a short, simple story that teaches or explains an idea, especially one of moral. It includes questions and answers and finally the message. People use parables to indirectly teach something good. Jesus also used several parables in his teaching. With the help of parables he tried to expose the negative aspects of society and deliver a counter message. He used nature, stories of common and rich men to explain his teaching to his disciples and to the people. Parables are very meaningful and they touch hearts.
"Fr Melwyn has used a few parables from the Bible and gave them a musical form. It is a new way of explaining the meaning of parables mentioned in the Bible. I salute Fr Melwyn for his efforts on this and congratulate his team," he added.
Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld said, "Today on this stage we will witness a new form of art which is an amalgamation of drama, music and dance.
