Addressing the BJP women's morcha programme at Bommanahalli here on Sunday March 11, she said that the word, 'Congress' has come to mean 'anti-development'. She charged the family of ruling the country without achieving progress of the country.
"After the central government led by Narendra Modi came to power, we are witnessing all-round development. But Congress is creating bottlenecks in the progress of the country. For example, Congress opposed the anti-triple talaq bill drafted by the central government. This move of the Congress is condemnable," she said.
Irani said that after the BJP rose to power at the centre, the government had provided Rs 6,000 crore grant to textiles sector. "Mainly we have instructed creation of internal complaints committees in all garment factories. BJP always works to weaken negative forces, and to strengthen the motherly power," she explained.
She stated that during the period Congress has been in power in the st ate, Bengaluru has turned into one of the cities where women do not feel safe anymore as law and order situation has crashed. She noted that Bengaluru, which was once upon a time treated as a safe place, is witnessing theft of golden chain from the neck of police officer.
Union minister for parliamentary affairs, Ananth Kumar, former deputy chief minister, R Ashoka, Bommanahalli MLA, Satish Reddy, MLA, Tara Anuradha, and retired IAS officer, K Shivaram were amont those who participated in the programme.
