First of all there is need to reinstate PPF facility for NRIs. Just because they are non-residents, it does not mean that their family does not need protection of provident fund. What is the gain the govt got by withdrawing ppf facility for NRIs? Value wise it is nothing. Just a harassment. NRIs are the ones who bring in foreign exchange reserves for the country by toiling and sweating, leaving their family behind in India and suffering all odds against them in foreign country. Just because they do not form a major vote bank, the Govt has withdrawn facility of continuing PPF and tax benefits which are otherwise available for residents. Even TDS percentage is higher for income in India!!!
