Mangaluru, Mar 10: Karangalpady ward members celebrated Womens’ Day on March 8 at Alban Rodrigues house.
Alban Rodrigues welcomed the 19 members who attended the programme. Explaining the significance of the celebration he said, “As woman is equal to man there is need for us to celebrate, though for certain reasons, this has not been the case for a long time.”
Irene D'Souza, one of the ward members conducted the prayer service.
The chief guest Celestine Vas addressed the gathering explaining the importance of women's role in society and the various roles a woman plays in a family. “We women play so many roles in a family. Today, we must appreciate ourselves for the effort put in. It is also true that these efforts do not always get appreciated on a daily
basis. These roles do keep us busy, but this does effect the time we give ourselves in a day. We need to give ourselves some time, an hour or a day at least. I wish that each woman spends some time a day, just for herself for an hour, keeping aside, all her office and housework.”
All the women present took part in the games and shared their joy with one another by cutting a cake. Ward members Rishel DSouza and Kripa DSa conducted games. Adelaide D’Sa proposed the vote of thanks and Joseph Alexander conducted the whole programme.
