Bengaluru: Parliament-like security for Lokayukta office, Vidhana Soudha, HC - Home Minister

Kalaburagi, Mar 8 (DHNS): Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy said on Thursday that security would be provided to the Lokayukta office, Vidhana Soudha and High Court in Bengaluru on the lines of the Parliament House in New Delhi. This follows the stabbing of Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference here, Reddy said, "Joint Commisisoner of Police (crime) Sathish Kumar is probing the incident of attack on Shetty and will submit a report by Thursday evening."

Reddy said that the incident occurred due to a defunct metal detector. He said there were no reports whether Tejraj Sharma, who stabbed Shetty, was an RSS worker or member of any pro-Hindu organisation.

Reddy said Sharma had a fight with Shetty 15 days ago, but the latter had scolded him and sent him off.

On BJP leaders' allegations that law and order had worsened in the state, Reddy said the situation was good and that BJP was politicising the issue in the wake of the elections.

He said the crime rate had dropped under the Congress government and was much less compared to BJP's rule.

Reddy said a police commissionerate would be established in Kalaburagi soon. The government had sanctioned Rs 50 crore for the purpose and orders had been issued for recruitment of staff, the minister said.

The Questions to be asked to Congress govt in Karnataka
1.Why did you curtail the powers of Lokayukta by giving more powers to ACB and make ACB a caged parrot under you? In Fact previously Lokayukta had highest powers .You have reduced the image of Lokayukta
    2. Why the metal detector at Lokayukta was not repaired ?
    3. Why Mr .Sharma was not frisked and checked before meeting Lokayukta ?
4.Why Mr Brijesh Kalappa gave a statement that it was Mr Shetty 's attitude of freely meeting all that lead to the attack?

All security is given to intellectuals who create nuisance in the society. Remaining security is used for politicians, judges, MLA etc. Tax payer has to fund this and they have to suffer also.

Instead of Parliament-like security for Lokayukta office and spending tax payers money for security, shift the Lokayukta to Vidhanasoudha so that they can atleast take care of some sleeping corrupt ministers.
Again Lokayukta has become toothless tiger and corruption is going on full swing. I appreciate Santhos HEGDE action and we want to see some action by Lokayukta during Nidramayya regime. So far no action taken on Shiv Kuma. Atleast declare all politicians asset well in advance before the election. One thing I want tell that all officers should listen to the problems of the desperate people who run from one pillar to another. People are well aware of the laws and ready to take law in their hands if they don't get justice.

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy , where is your pro active decision. Why are you getting up now.
Take out all security to the Ministers including ex minister of BJP and JDS. Then see their reaction. You have given sufficient security to all the previous govt. BJP / JDS ministers and not to the Lokayukta Judge. All politicians are the same.
I wish, the same person should do it to ministers and then they will get up from their unconcerned attitude towards the citizens.

Instead of parliamentary like security, dissolve ACB & let Lokayuktha take care of all the issues like earlier. Even though a person doesn't have documentary evidence, he/she needs to be helped & it's the job of the lokayuktha officials to take it further & take the case to logical end. Someone cannot be just told that case is closed. Lokayuktha was formed by late Sri Rama Krisha Hegde & there is no politician like him now. Also Lokayukha cannot tell someone that he has the power to arrest him. Let his subordinates take care of the case. Lokayukha needs to be strengthened further. If the said person supplied furniture of inferior quality, then let there be investigation. But what is the mechanism to check if the official wanted bribe and he just decided that the furniture is of inferior quality. I wish speedy recovery to Justice Vishwanath Shetty.
