Bengaluru, Mar 7 (IANS): Ahead of Assembly polls in April-May, the Karnataka government has reissued transfer orders to seven Indian Administrative Service (IAS) rank officers which were earlier asked to be withheld for not consulting the poll panel.
In a government notification issued on Tuesday, seven IAS officers were transferred: M.V. Jayanthi, V. Chaitra, S.B. Shettannavar, M.V. Venkatesh, Rohini Sindhuri Dasari, K. Rajendra and B.R. Mamatha.
The transfer orders of these officers issued earlier in January were asked to be put on hold by the ElectionACommission.
"The special summary revision of electoral rolls was taking place till February 28 and all the district officers were under deputation to the EC, during which any transfers were to be done only after consulting the poll panel," the state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjiv Kumar told IANS here.
As the state hadn't consulted the poll panel while issuing the transfer orders in January, they were asked to be withheld, he said.
"The roll revision has ended now and the state is free to make the transfers till a model code of conduct is in place again," Kumar said.
The EC is yet to announce the poll dates for the southern state, after which the model code of conduct will be put in place.
