Mangaluru, Mar 5: “District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai will inaugurate and lay foundation stone to several development works within the MCC limits here at St Sebastian hall on Tuesday, March 6,” informed mayor Kavitha Sanil.
Addressing the gathering, mayor Kavitha Sanil said, “Minister for Food and civil supplies U T Khader, MLA J R Lobo, MLA Mohiuddin Bava, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and others will grace the occasion.”
“Foundation stone and inauguration of development works worth Rs 2266.65 crore will be started, including five Indira Canteens. Five Indira canteens which have been constructed at Pumpwell, Urwa store, Nehru Maidan, Kavoor and Surathkal will be symbolically inaugurated at Nehru Maidan on March 6. Except the Indira Canteen at Pumpwell, rest of canteens will be open for public from tomorrow. During the recently concluded MCC budget Rs 2.25 crore has been allotted for food at Indira Canteens.”
“Other than the Indira canteen, foundation stone will be laid for development works including 65 development works under smart city project worth Rs 2,000 crores. Construction of drainage within the MCC limits under ADB project worth Rs 61.30 crore will be undertaken. Under the second phase of Nagorathana scheme, three roads will be constructed worth Rs 7.45 crore and under third phase six roads will be developed with Rs 9.90 crore. Under premium FAR fund 19 construction works worth Rs 37.75 crore will begin. Construction of Kadri Market and commercial complex will be done with Rs 37.75 crore. Construction of Kankanady market and commercial complex will be undertaken at Rs 42.50 crore.”
“Major works under smart city project are clock tower worth Rs 90 crore, Pumpwell bus stand worth Rs 400 crore, Central market worth Rs 50 crore,” she added.
Deputy mayor Rajaneesh, MCC commissioner M Nazeer, MCC chief whip Shashidhar Hegde, corporator Sabitha Misquith and others were present.
