Bengaluru, Mar 5: Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council, Youth Commission had its first general body meeting bringing together all the catholic youth movements under the banner of KRYC (Karnataka Regional Youth Commission). The gathering was held at St Joseph’s Autonomous College here on Sunday, March 4. The chairman bishop of KRYC, Fr Henry D’souza (Bishop of Ballari Diocese) inaugurated the meeting along with the presidents and coordinators of all the youth moments.
Bishop Henry D’Souza exhorted the youth leaders to be channels of peace and harmony in the society and the church by excelling in values, academics and talents. He proposed many points to work together as a team to bring about change in the society and make a difference. Jose Jacob the CEO of Integrow enlightened the gathering on networking giving number of examples from his personal life. Fr Brian, AICUF Asian chaplain extended a cordial welcome to all the youth leaders to the youthful campus of St Joseph’s and exhorted them to be enthusiastic in serving the humanity.
All the youth movements presented a report on programmes and activities youth movement to the gathering. A plan of action was prepared to network and to carry forward the recommendations of the KRCBC in empowering the youth of Karnataka. The pastoral plan of the KRCBC Youth commission was discussed and each youth movement committed
themselves to incorporate the same in to their action plan so as to work in unison with the mind of the commission keeping their own identity, charisma and autonomy.
A coordinating body for KRYC was formed comprising of all the presidents of regional movements. Accordingly Jai Joseph of ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth Movement), Anushikha of Jesus Youth, Eugene of Bosco Youth, Royal Pais and Prashanth of AICUF (All India Catholic University Federation), Sonia Nazareth of YCS/YSM (Young Catholic Students/Yong Students Movement), Anil Kote of MIJARC (International Movement of Catholic Agricultural and Rural Youth), and Vipin of Abide (ICYM Alumni) were appointed as the KRYC core team members along with the commission chairman Bishop Henry Dsouza, secretary Fr Anil D’Sa and joint secretary Sr Jessy. Jai Joseph, president, ICYM was nominated as the coordinator of KRYC.
The meeting was well represented by all the seven youth movements’ executive members and the diocesan ICYM presidents and diocesan youth directors. The programme was hosted by AICUF Karnataka in collaboration with all the youth movements of KRYC.
