Mangaluru, Mar 5: District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai on Monday, March 5 said that BJP had no moral right to organize 'Jana Suraksha Yatra'.
Addressing media he said, “BJP and Sangh Parivar are the main reason behind communal problems in the district. The intention of BJP through 'Jana Suraksha Yatra' is to provoke people to indulge in violence and divide the society on the basis of community. Hence, they have no moral right to organise such rallies,"
“People can clearly see that BJP leaders are delivering hate speeches at 'Jana Suraksha Yatra'. Not even once, MPs Pratap Simha and Ananth Kumar Hegde have used stages for spreading messages of peace. They are known for their communal speeches. So how can one call the rally 'Jana Suraksha Yatra'?" he added.
“In my taluk, people have been killed only from the past five years, four by BJP and Sangh Parivar and one by another organisation. After the murders, both parties engaged in defending the killers. Congress has never spoken in favour of killers. So the question of supporting killers does not arise," he said.
“Yesterday at Sullia, they displayed a tableau with the caption of 'Siddu Darbar'. Finding the tableau communally provoking, the police seized it. This makes it clear that 'Jana Suraksha Yatra' is not for ‘Raksha’ but to disturb peace and communal harmony. Hence, it is my kind request to the people of the district not to fall in BJP’s trap and provoking speeches. It is essentail that people remain wise to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the district,” Raid said.
Harish Kumar, district Congress president, Ibrahim Kodijal, Shashidhar Hegde, Kavita Sanil, A C Vinayraj and others were present.
