Udupi, Mar 5: ‘Namma Angadi’, held an exhibition and workshop for students and other enthusiasts in association with School Of Communication at Manipal on March 3. Many students and people of Udupi and Manipal took part in the day-long workshop on Tie and Dye, cloth coloring pottery making and carpentry designs making.
“Namma Angadi and School of Communication has organized these workshops to continue the art forms of our ancestors. Pottery making and carpentry designs are to be taught to our next generation. Many people from Udupi and Manipal took part in the workshop,” said Sneha, project manager.
‘Namma Angadi’ is an organization with social cause. It runs a school named ‘Namma Bhoomi’. The students of this school are taught pottery making, carpentry skills and provided computer education. The profit received from the exhibition will be utilized for the education and maintenance of the school. The exhibition will be held from March 9 to 11.
Speaking about his experience Pritham, a participant said, “This workshop has given me a new hobby. I took part in pottery making. These type of programmes help us to cultivate new hobbies which are lesser known.”
From little children to aged ones, everyone took part in the workshop. Many beautiful pots and clay designs attracted the attention of the viewers.
