Mangaluru, Mar 4: National president of Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi, will be undertaking tour of Dakshna Kannada district on March 20 and 21 this year. During this visit, he will be addressing several public meetings, said chief whip of the state legislative council, Ivan D'Souza.
Giving this information at a press conference he addressed in the city on Saturday March 3, Ivan stated that detailed itinerary of the Congress president is yet to be worked out and that he would be providing information about them at a later date.
"Rahul Gandhi's programmes in Hyderabad Karnataka and Mumbai Karnataka areas received immense support from the public. This success has given rise to a sense of jitter and disappointment among BJP leaders. Out of these feelings they have begun to issue unwarranted and baseless statements about Siddaramaiah-led government in Karnataka. They are indulging in making false allegations against the state government," he stated.
The MLC reasoned that the BJP leaders are now resorting to politics of vengeance as the programmes in which Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and BJP national president, Amit Shah, participated at Bengaluru and Davanagere did not get the response the party expected from the general public. Ivan felt that the BJP leaders have realized that BJP will be defeated by Congress in both assembly election in the state this year, and the next year's Lok Sabha election. Out of helplessness, these leaders have been accusing the state government of so many things. "The Prime Minister's comments about the state government being 'ten percent government' and 'Seeda Rupaiah Sarkar' have undermined the dignity and decorum of the august position of the Prime Minister," he stated.
Congress leaders, J Nagendra Kumar, Puneeth Shetty, Gururaj, Mudassir Kurdroli, Lloyd D'Souza and Nazeer Bajal were present.
