Kundapur, Mar 3: Upcoming singer Khasim Hanagal bagged 'Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa’ season-1 title award, a singing competition jointly organised by Voice of Udupi Karaoke, S P Panchami and Sumadhura music team. The contest was held at Beach Garden, Trasi on recently.
It was organised for the first time in the district. Hundreds of music lovers witnessed the enthralling musical show.
Rajath Mayya won the second prize and Pallavi Manipal bagged the third prize.
Over 300 contestants gathered all over from seven districts for the audition held at Nehru Ground of PVS Sarojini Madhusudhan D Kushe Government School, Kundapur.
As many as 41 candidates entered the second round, out of which 22 were selected for the third round. Top 10 finalists entered the grand finale. The singing duel was held between the top 5 contestants in the final round. It was a big challenge for the judges to select the best performer in the singing reality show.
The performances were judged by Vidhvan Gururaj SJ from Bengaluru, Vaishnavi and Vikram.
Winner Khasim Hanagal received Rs 25,000 cash prize and an attractive title trophy. He sang the song ‘Gana Vidya Badi Katina hai’ from Ganayogi Pachakshari Gavai, originally sung by S P Balasubrahmanyam. He was successful in catching the pulse of the audience through a classic song.
Runner-up Rajath Mayya received Rs15,000 cash along with a permanent trophy. Third place winner Pallavi Manipal bagged Rs 10,000 cash prize along with a permanent shield.
The event began with a formal stage function which was inaugurated by Ashok Kumar Shetty, trustee of Sri Shanishwar Temple Chonamane Ajri.
Ashok Kumar, addressing the gathering said, “Singing has become a part and parcel of everyone’s life. A person sings for expressing joy, grief and pain. Singing has the power of filling courage in one's life. Goddess Devi Sharada has blessed emotions in everyone’s life, in one way or the other. Let this show be successful.”
During the stage function, M Somanath, PWD engineer Udupi, Venkat Poojary, president, Trasi gram panchayat, H M Mallikarjun, founder of Udupi Karaoke, noted businessman Harish Kumar, Dinakar Patel, Vidyaranga Mitra Mandali, Harish Kanchugodu of Panchami melodies and Rajesh of S P musical group were present.
Emerging singer Dhanush, S Basappa and Deeksha Manipal were present as special invitees. Junior Gurukiran famed artiste Nagaraj from Gangolli enthralled the audience by enacting Gurukiran and other artistes performed cultural programmes.
H M Mallikarjun, founder of Udupi Karaoke and his wife Anitha were honoured.
Prakash Kundapur welcomed the gathering.
Popular singer Naveenchandra Koppa entertained the audience with fun filled anchoring. VJ Suchendra Acharya and Chaithra Kundapura joined him as comperes.
