Bengaluru, Mar 3: BJP has blown its election trumpet through 'Save Bengaluru' campaign against the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah. The party leaders conducted a march in Shantinagar legislative constituency limits, where Mohammad Nalapad, son of MLA N Haris recently attacked Vidwath and shouted slogans saying 'We do not want Goondagiri but Modigiri'.
The march was formally inaugurated near Gavi Gangadareshwara temple under Basavanagudi Assembly constituency limits by the team of central ministers Ananth Kumar, Prakash Javadekar, D V Sadananda Gowda, former ministers R Ashok and Aravind Limbavali.
The BJP leaders started their foot march at 5 pm at UB city, the place where Mohammad Nalapad and his friends carried out their assault recently and warned by beating drums and saying that the citizens of Bengaluru will not tolerate the Goondagiri of Congress party. The team led by Ashok and Limbavali which took a march for nearly two hours in Shantinagar constituency limits took to task chief minister Siddaramaiah and MLA Haris in their speeches.
Speaking on the occasion, Anant Kumar, central minister for chemicals and fertilizers and parliamentary affairs, said, "People who created disturbance in Shantinagar are taking their steps in prison. BJP is taking steps of peace in this constituency. MLA Haris and his son Nalapad have tarnished the image of Bengaluru at the international level. The director of this whole assault episode is Haris and the actor is Mohammed Nalapad.
"The assault on Vidwath is actually an attempt to murder him. If people of Bengaluru did not protest, by this time, Nalapad would have escaped to Dubai and would be eating chicken biriyani with some Sheikh."
R Ashok, former deputy chief minister, vented his anger on Congress government and said, "We have released a charge sheet on the corruption that has taken place in The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Siddaramaiah is asking for the witness for the same. If he takes a look at his hand, on which he has the Hublot watch that is worth Rs 70 lac, he will get the witness for the corruption that has occurred in BBMP."
"Not a single political murder took place when I was the home minister. However, series of murders are taking place during the regime of Congress party. Do you still want Haris, who has created unrest in your constituency as your MLA?" he questioned.
Aravind Limbavali, former minister accused the Congress government and said, "Siddaramiah has started the business of 'white topping' after spoiling all the good roads of Bengaluru city. He is spending an amount that is enough to make a trip to the moon, for the construction of a mere 12 km of road."
Prakash Javadekar, state BJP election in-charge, made fun of the state government by asking the party activists to shout the slogans of 'Sidda Bidda, Sidda Bidda', which means Siddaramaiah fell when translated in English.
"People of Bengaluru have to decide whether they need 'goonda raj' or good governance. They have to vote and elect BJP in all the 28 constituencies of the city in the coming assembly elections. Like the other states of our country, Congress will be wiped out from Karnataka, 'Sidda Bidda'," Javadekar ridiculed the Congress government.
"We have to modify the proverb 'Nero played the fiddle when Rome burnt'. Now the situation is such that Siddu (Siddaramaiah) is playing the fiddle when Bengaluru is being burnt. People are laughing and saying 'Sada Sidda, sleeps wherever he sits, Sidda-Bidda' but the chief minister is still not awakened," criticised Anant Kumar, central minister.
Anant Kumar further added, "Siddaramaiah always questions as to what BJP has given to Bengaluru. International airport and Metro rail project were given to Bengaluru by the BJP government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee."
"Siddaramaiah should not forget that the suburban train project of Bengaluru, which is worth Rs 17000 crore is not given by Congress prime ministers like Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao or Manmohan Singh but by the BJP government led by prime minister Narendra Modi," he retorted.
Black flag protest by Congress
Congress activists showed black flags near Ramanjaneya temple of Hanumanthanagar, in protest against BJP's march under the 'Save Bengaluru' campaign. They were led by M G Balaram, secretary of KPCC. Due to this protest, the situation in the area was tense for some time.
Meanwhile, chief minister Siddaramaiah took a dig at the BJP leaders and said that while they were busy defaming Bengaluru, the state government was transforming the city.
"While some people are busy defaming my city, we are transforming Bengaluru.
We are building:
World class public transport through Namma Metro, Bengaluru Sub-Urban Rail & BMTC.
World Class Roads through Tender Sure & White Topping," he tweeted.
