13 passengers of Bengaluru-bound train fed sedated biscuits, looted

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Mar 1: In a shocking incident, thirteen passengers in a Bengaluru-bound train were sedated with biscuits and robbed off their belongings. The incident happened on wee hours of Thursday.

According to reports, the passengers had boarded Yeshwantpur-Jodhpur Express and purchased biscuits from a group of youngsters, who were selling food on the train.

Soon after consuming them, the victims fell unconscious making it very easy for the robbers to decamp with gold, cash and luggage.

Around 4 am when the train arrived at the Gudur station in Nellore district, the passengers alerted the railway police and the unconscious people were shifted to a local hospital.

Of the thirteen, six of them are facing serious health complications due to the sedatives mixed in the biscuits.

The cops have launched a hunt and are checking CCTV footages and talking to eye witnesses to know how many people were involved in the crime and how they managed to flee. The police have also sent the food samples for investigation.

Robbed at knifepoint, escaped using cops bike

Meanwhile, in another incident on Thursday, two passengers of Bidar-Yesvantpur Express were robbed at knifepoint near Taticherla Railway station. The robbers were travelling in the general compartment and stopped the train by pulling the chain to escape.

While the railway police rushed to the passengers rescue, the robbers threw stones on them. RPF officer V K Meena was threatened with the knife and the thieves escaped on his bike.

The passengers who were robbed were from Raichur and another from Yesvantpur and have filed their complaints with the railway police.

Both incidents took place when the train was passing through Andhra Pradesh.

First point. Railways should not let unauthorized sellers to sell their goods in train. And passengers should check sellers badge before purchasing anything. And moreover RPF constables should be always alert during night travel. Just for example last week i had been to Tirupathi. While returning from Tirupathi, a students group from hyderabad making so much noise. As i was accompanying my family with elders and a child, i requested them not to make noise. I waited til 10 pm as the official order says that u can not sleep until 10 pm. Still they where playing and making lots of noise. I just could not bear it and i asked one guy to keep quiet or else i will call the police. But they argued with me that they can play and make noise as the train is their private property. Then i lost my cool and said, U guys are going to Mangalore right, Let me show u how mangaloreans behave. U are our guest and behave like a guest or else I will contact the mangalore polcie and lets go to police station and settle the matter there itself. By hearing this 2 of the students came and apologized to me. The point here i am making is, Yes Train journey is to enjoy. But make sure that u do not disturb ur fellow passengers.

Same old story.why dont the passengers understand not to accept anything from strangers ?or cant standout a night without buying biscuits? Our people are so naive and these criminals have a very easy way to loot.Rialway should forbid to sell anything in compartments to people.Pitiable condition f got looted.Hope the people got looted with health problems get well soon .Money one can earn later ,but not lost health. If any cctv were installed in railway compartments ,hope they can natch and punish them.

Very disturbing news. Need to have control over the vendors who sell the food items in the trains. Need stricter rules. It was happening Matyagandha express, Mumbai -Mangalore train often.

Amazing! these vendors should not be allowed to sell, especially food in the train without valid licence for various reasons including food safety and health.
