Puttur: Illegal cattle trafficking at Kallanthadka - one held

Puttur, Mar 1: A person was arrested and a vehicle along with nine cattle loaded into it was seized, in connection with illegal trafficking of cattle from near Kallanthadka graveyard near Kadaba in the taluk, on Wednesday February 28.

A pick-up truck with several cattle was heading towards Panja from the direction of Kadaba on Wednesday and was noticed by activists of some local Hindu organizations. They stopped the vehicle near the graveyard and conveyed information to Kadaba police. Kadaba police sub-inspector, Prakash Devadiga and staff arrived at the spot and took into custody the pick-up vehicle and nine cattle, which were found inhumanly stuffed into it.

Raju alias Mathew (38), son of Mani from Vimalagiri in Kutruppady, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested the police. It is suspected that the animals were being transported to Kerala state.
