Bengaluru, Mar 1 (DHNS): The ruling Congress has issued applications to 850 ticket aspirants since Monday, when the issue of applications began.
KPCC will issue applications to aspirants till March 5. The last date to submit applications is March 10. They are available at the KPCC headquarters in the city.
According to the party sources, general category aspirants have been issued applications followed by those from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
In the 2013 election, about 2,000 ticket applications were issued and among them, 1,800 were submitted to the party, the sources said.
"There's a provision to issue applications to as many as 10,000 people under the General category and 5,000 each for SC/STs and women," a source said.
The process of issuing ticket applications kickstarted with Congress president Rahul Gandhi appointing a 43-member state election committee, headed by KPCC president G Parameshwara. The panel also includes Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, former governor Margaret Alva along with a mix of senior and young party leaders.
The applications, after they are submitted, will be screened and then sent to the central selection committee, which will finalise the candidates.
