Sullia, Feb 27: Bajrang Dal district secretary, Sharan Pumpwell, said that both Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad strongly condemn the gory murder of college student, Akshata, in the town a few days back. "The murder which happened in the name of love has given rise to a sense of consternation among the Hindu community in coastal Karnataka. The government should take this incident in all seriousness and ensure that accused, Kartik, gets death sentence. The state government should also release compensation of ten lac rupees to the bereaved family," he demanded.
He was addressing a press conference here on Monday February 26.
Sharan Pumpwell alleged that a systematic conspiracy aimed at ruining the lives of Hindu girls has been hatched in coastal Karnataka by peddling drugs and ganja. He felt that Akshata was one of the victims of this plan and urged the government to handle this case very seriously.
He alleged that drugs and ganja trade have been spreading their network in Dakshina Kannada district and that the college campus here is not an exception. He said that the Hindu leaders have repeatedly sounded the police commissioner and police officers about the adverse effects of drug abuse and accused the officials and government of failing to take proper steps to regulate this problem.
Taluk president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Ganapati Bhat Majigundi, Bajrag Dal leader, Prakash Yadav, Anita representing Durgavahini, Ranjith and Madhusudan of Tulunada Rakashana Vedike and others were present.
