Udupi, Aug 12: The district bar association including Karkala and Kundapur, seeks the state administration's action against the anti-naxal force (ANF) police involved in assaulting city lawyers on Saturday, August 9, at Srimane Falls, said Mattar Ratnakar Hegde,president, district bar association, at a press conference held at their office, on Monday, August 11.
Hegde also challenged IGP, A M Prasad’s statement that an investigation committee will be formed to probe the incident. Meanwhile, the association has alleged that nobody from the government has contacted them over the incident so far.
They threatened to take to the streets if there were no assurances promising action, forthcoming from the government by 4.00 pm on Tuesday, August 12. A few bar associations across the state have also expressed solidarity with the agitating lawyers, by boycotting court on Monday.
The district bar association boycotted court on Monday and will continue to do so on Tuesday also. The Bangalore bar association will also stage a protest before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the state capital on Tuesday, August 12.
