Karkala, Feb 27: A software engineer lost his life after the motor bike he was riding crashed into a crane that was parked in the middle of the road at Garvebavipalya on Hosur Road in the wee hours of Monday, Februrary 26.
The deceased has been identified as Sagar Prabhakar Shetty (25) from Karkala, who was living at Hosapalya here. Crane driver, Mohammed Khan, stands arrested. He was produced in court whereupon he was remanded to two weeks of judicial custody, police stated.
Sagar used to work for a prestigious software company having its office at Garvebavipalya. He was going to the house of his friend at Bommanahalli at about 1.15 am on Monday, when his motor bike plowed into a crane that was stationed in the middle of the road. Sagar,who was taken to hospital, died on the way. The police said that the crane, which belongs to Geo company that undertakes works on national highway, was not fitted with reflector lights. The motor bike rider could not perhaps avoid hitting it as his bike was moving at high speed, they added.
A case about this accident was filed in Madivala station.
