Mysuru, Feb 27: Multi-lingual actor Prakash Raj (Rai) on Tuesday February 27 filed a defamation case against BJP leader and Mysuru MP Pratap Simha in Mysuru court here.
Prakash Raj recently began a '#justasking' campaign on social media to question the policies and actions of the BJP-led central government. In response, Pratap Simha allegedly gave defamatory statements in his writings as well as in social media.
Taking umbrage, Prakash Raj then asked Pratap Simha to apologise publicly. However, as Simha did not respond to his demand, the actor approached the Mysuru court and filed a defamation case of only Re 1 against the MP.
In November 2017, the actor had sent a legal notice to Simha for making defamatory statements in reference to his personal life on social media platforms. He had then termed the MP as a 'serial offender'.
A few days back, an aide of union minister Ananth Kumar Hegde had filed a criminal complaint against Prakash Raj for allegedly spreading 'falsehoods' on Twitter through his campaign.
