Bengaluru: Kannadigas in Gulf facing hardships, KNRI forum will help them, says Dr Arathi Krishna

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 27: Karnataka NRI Forum deputy chairperson, Dr Arathi Krishna, said that Kannadiga entrepreneurs, workers and those pursuing other employments in Gulf countries are facing hard times. She also claimed that about 20,000 people have come back as a result. She held new policies implemented by the Arab countries responsible for this hostile situation.

Dr Arathi held meeting with people facing the threat of losing their employment in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Gulf on Monday February 26 at Vikasa Soudha here.

Speaking thereafter, she said that lacs of people from Karnataka are facing problems and that the forum will put in sincere efforts towards making sure that the state government will rush to their rescue.

She pointed out that the new policies implemented in Arab countries, which favour the locals to run businesses and industries, have given NRI Indians three months time to leave the Gulf countries. "This has come as a bolt from the blue for families that have settled in these countries since the last several decades," she explained.

She said that she has already toured Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and other places, held discussions with NRI entrepreneurs and workers, and got herself abreast of the problems they have been facing.

Speaking further, Dr Arathi said that chief minister, Siddaramaiah, has been requested to form a policy for the benefit of returning NRIs on Kerala model towards providing rehabilitation, creation of employment, providing loan at low rates of interest for people interested in setting up businesses and industries, and providing them land for this purpose.

Whether she tells right or wrong, one should take it serious. One thing is sure.Good times in gulf are over.Self they realised their lowsinking schiff late. Now oil is not much asked. It had to come.Arabs self are educated now and want to keepup their own country from looters. They want their future genration to educate and do self .They never gave citizenship to outsiders. They have thier own rules .We indians have to pack and get ready.soon or later we have to go to our earth.mother country.

@Ivar Mangalore, why do you blame only foreign lady? There were and present too Indians on the throne, why did you not try to avert it.?Because she was a foreigner ,indian people made her to rule. Not she herself ascend there. One shouldnt simply blame others for their own fault. We indians are not yet educated enough to use our freedom and our votes in right way.we are behind cows and religion fanatics. So will no Nation improve.whole India is with corruption filled.Police, ministers ,and Govt officials are not working properly. And now you blame a foreigner.

Those were those days when all Arab Countries gave opportunity to expatriates to come and work , specially Asians and South East Asians. People rushed to gulf and at least one person from family got benefit of that. Now their population increased and they too need jobs to survive. We must Thank Arab countries for giving us a chance to flourish in our life by working for them. I feel sad to leave this beautiful place where I worked for thirty years in a short time, but memories will remain till I die.

The NRIs in the Gulf have been facing a few issues, no doubt.

But what is the status of this Nitin Karnik's NRI forum?

What authority has been given to it by the Government of Karnataka?

People want to know that, before they can approach this "Forum" for any help.
