Karkala, Feb 22: Police arrested Azaruddin alias Manchakal Azaruddin (25), son of Abdul Khader, resident of Kote road, Kaup, accused of breaking the house at Banglegudde and stealing valuables at Karkal on February 4, 2018 and his friend Mohammed Azaruddin also known as Manchakal Azaruddin (32), son of Abdul Razak, Banglemane, Kuthyar house, Shirva, Manchakal on February 20.
Investigations have revealed that the suspects had conducted several thefts, serial thefts and highway robberies in Bhatkal, Kundapur, Udupi and Karkala.
The court had released warrants for their arrests in connection with thefts in Ankola and Manki of Bhatkal, Kundapur, Manipal, Kaup and Hiriadka in Udupi district and Bunder in Mangaluru. But the suspects had gone into hiding without attending the court hearing during the last four years.
Police also recovered a gold bangle weighing seven grams worth Rs 21,000 out of thefts committed by Azaruddin alias Manchakal Azaruddin (25) and seized a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle worth Rs two lac used for snatching chains from women.
The operation was conducted under the guidance from Karkala assistant SP Hrishikesh Sonavane by Karkala police circle inspector Joy Antony, Karkala crime detection squad staff HC Rajesh, Prashanth, Girish, PC Raghavendra, Ghanasham, Bheemappa, Ugare and drivers HC Prashant and HC Lingappa Gowda.
Udupi SP has announced a prize for Karkala police crime detection and Kaup crime detection squads who have arrested seven suspects involved in several thefts and robberies in Uttar Kannada, Udupi and Karkala and recovered stolen jewellery and valuables worth Rs 11 lac besides arresting the two suspects who were absconding though the court had issued a warrant for their arrest.
