Sullia, Feb 22: It is learnt that Karthik, who killed his classmate Akshata brutally on Tuesday, February 20, planned the murder well in advance and started the preparations right from the morning of that fateful day.
Meticulous planning
Karthik bought a knife that cost him Rs 30, from a shop in Car Street in the afternoon. He got the knife sharpened by a nearby carpenter. After getting the knife prepared, he entered the college and had plans to stab Akshata in the classroom itself. However, he could not carry out his plan as he did not get a suitable opportunity. But he kept watch on her movements and noticed that Akshata had left the class early. He waited for her on the way.
Akshata, Karthik
Threatened to kill several times
Karthik was in love with Akshata since four months. But his feelings towards her were one way. He was forcing her to accept his love. He had sent more than 200 messages on WhatsApp on Sunday, February 18. He had threatened Akshata of murder if she does not reciprocate to his yearning. Karthik had even mentioned this with some people as per the information that is available. However, Akshata neither paid heed to his one-way love nor took his warning seriously.
Akshata had warned Karthik of bringing this issue to the notice of lecturers in the college and also her family. For this very reason Karthik took her life. This was revealed by Karthik himself during the police interrogation.
Akshata cremated
Post-mortem of Akshata's body was conducted in the government hospital of Sullia. On the night of Tuesday, February 20, her body was brought to her home at Karaniya house at Shantinagar near Mulleria. As Akshata's sister was in Bengaluru, the last rites were performed on Wednesday, February 21, once her sister reached home.
