Margao Aug 8: Chief Minister Shri Digamber kamat on Friday, 8 August, inaugurated Chowgule Sports and Fitness Centre and the Chowgule Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Centre , the state of the art facility started by Smt Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science at Gogal- Margao.
The centre with its 35ooo Sq. feet indoor capacity is equipped with sports and recreational fitness facility, featuring cardio equipment, selector machines, Iso kinetic machines, free weights, indoor running track, plyometrics platforms, dot drill mats and Olympic platforms for explosive lifts for elite athletes to recreational gym goers. One of the key component of the centre is to train and build athletes using world renowned program BFS.
The sports medicine centre is designed to cater to all the sports persons and others who are suffering from all musculoskeletal alignments, It is equipped with x-ray unit to conduct a thorough diagnostics of the athletes as well as other individual who are seeking for pain relieving modalities. The centre also has hydro therapy pool to treat those athletes and others who are suffering from lower extremities injuries.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister appealed to the corporate sector to contribute for the development of the state.
Chowgule Family has shown the way in starting this high tech facility for the benefit of people without any financial support from the Government Shri Kamat said and felt that the corporate sector should support the vision of the Government to make Goa a model state in all areas of human endeavour.
Complimenting the Chowgule family for their contribution to the development of the state in diverse fields and said "this college has made state proud and today I am very happy that I was the ex student of this great institution".
Elvis Goes, MD Dynatron System Solution Pvt Ltd explained the state of the art facilities provided at the fitness centre.
Subhash Shirodkar, President of Goa Olympic Association and V. M. Prabhudessai Executive Director of SAG were present on the occasion.
