Sullia: Jilted lover stabs college student to death, slits own wrist in suicide bid

Sullia, Feb 20: In a shocking incident, a college student allegedly stabbed a girl to death reportedly over love failure.

The accused, Karthik, allegedly killed Akshata, a student of the same college here on Tuesday February 20.

After stabbing the girl, Karthik slit his wrists in a bid to commit suicide. He has been admitted to hospital and is out of danger.

It is said that Karthik, a BSc student of NMC College, Sullia, was in love with Akshata who was also a BSc student in the same college, but she turned down his advances. Angered at her refusal, Karthik allegedly stabbed Akshata while she was standing on the main street.

Sources claimed that Karthik stabbed her six times, causing her instant death.

The police have secured arrest of the accused who is currently under treatment.

A case has been registered in Sullia police station and investigations are on.

    I do know this guy. He is mentally not fit. He has been rejected for not completing the Engineering degree. Then he is been admitted to degree college so that he should be busy in some thing. The situation is really tragedy. I feel very sorry for the girls death. May her soul rest in peace. If any student is not mentally fit...COLLEGES SHOULD DENY THE ADMISSION. At least after knowing the student behavior they should send them out. Else this is what happens. In order to ONLY EARN MONEY...any psychopath is admitted to colleges. Please think about it.

    Students should understand that its common for students to get attracted to opposite sex. However, you can't force love on another person. If they do not like you must accept the fact and move on in life. Its a fact in life. Stabbing and killing the person whom you love is no solution.     We need to do radical changes in the way we teach our kids about interaction with the opposite gender. So far our men are only taking up roles of protectors of females which somehow makes them think they can dominate any female they come across. Men in our country have to be educated socially to accept to respect a women's equality in making choices and to learn to get away with respect when she declines.This kind of respecting equality must start from home and continued as they grow up.
