Mangaluru, Feb 20: A heart check-up camp for children is being organised at the first full-fledged Pediatirc Cardiology Centre at A J Hospital & Research Centre on February 24.

The camp is being held with a view to cater to a large number of children suffering from cardiac ailments and to create awareness among the parents about cardiac disease. The team of Doctors comprises Dr Prem Alva, pediatric cardiologist and Dr Gourav Shetty, pediatric cardiac surgeon. Simple heart defects can be cured by pin-hole procedures and complex defects treated by open heart surgeries, which are now routinely done at A J Hospital & Research Centre.

The heart check-up camp for children with cardiac problems will be held in the Out-Patient Department here. The camp participants will be offered free consultation and 50% discount on Echocardiogram. If the child requires further treatment, the same will be done at a concessional rate. Renowned pediatric cardiologist and pediatric cardiac surgeon will be available for consultation during the camp.

Children known to have heart disease, becoming blue on crying, with recurrent respiratory infections and with breathing difficulty while playing, can avail benefit of the camp.
