Mangaluru, Feb 20: 'Tum Vhorto Dhonea' Biblical Konkani drama written and produced by Richie John Pais and directed by Arthur Rasquinha was staged at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday, February 18. This was the third show of the drama, two being staged during lent last year. All shows were houseful.
Story
'Tum Vhorto Dhonea' (Lord, You are Great) story is based on the book of Job in the Old Testament. Job Patriarch, the protagonist of the drama, is known for his unshakable faith. He does not lose his faith in his Creator in spite of losing all his wealth and children. His friends visit and comfort him, but they blame him for his misery. God appears to Job in the end and restores his wealth and health.

Jeevan Vas, Nishma D’Souza, Dorris D’Sa, Stany Machado, Nigel Pereira, Alwyn Tauro, Wilson Lobo, Steven Fernandes, Joachim Monteiro, Vincy Pinto, Roshan Lobo, Victor Rasquinha, Roshan Rocco, Nolan Furtado, Preetham Monteiro, Neel Coelho, MacLean D’Souza, Stany Fernandes, Steffi Pereira, Nia Pais, Avril D’Souza, Luvina Noronha, Stallone Fernandes, Sara Furtado, Roydon Lobo, Roncia Lobo, Eva Lobo, Mishal D’Souza have acted in the play.
Jerome Moras was the assistant director of the drama while Jerald Concessao was the stage manager.
Ashith Pinto as the music director had composed special Biblical music. Narayan Raj was the technical in-charge who created special graphics.
Blend of creative abilities and technical brilliance
The drama had 9 songs, composed by Richie John Pais and tuned by Fr Walter D’Souza and Fr Maxim D’Souza. Denzil Pereira has provided the music for the songs. Frank Sequeira, Rajesh D’Souza, Joseph Pinto, Rony Crasta, Zeena Pereira, Neel Coelho, Disha Moras, Anisha D’Souza, Kajal Moras, Nia Pais, Luvina Noronha and Avril D’Souza were the singers.
Appreciation came from the audience who experienced LED screen for the third time on Konkani stage after it was introduced on March 6 last year during the first show of the same drama.
The huge audience remained till the end to witness the grand climax which ends with the restoration of health and wealth of Job Patriarch. Deyona Pais, Steffi Pereira and Preema Pinto have performed the climax dance.
‘Sarvanumathi’ poem collection released
Earlier Richie John Pais’ ‘Sarvanumathi’, a collection of poetry was released by poets Melvyn Rodrigues and Titus Noronha.
'Sarvanumathi’ is Richie John Pais’ fourth book. He has published two books of satire and a book of short stories earlier.
Titus Noronha spoke about the book and said Richie has evolved as a writer over the years. “He is into English journalism and has written vast creative literature in English. Yet his commitment to Konkani remains the same. We all remember him for his humour and satire. But over the years, he has written plays, short stories and poems too. His poems are unique. One should read them to enjoy,”
Pascal Pinto Kuwait, Alwyn Pinto Dubai, Richard Moras Taccode, M P Noronha, Melvyn Rodrigues Titus Noronha, Fermina Spinella Pais and Nia Francisca Pais were present during the book release.
M P Noronha conducted the prayer.
Fermina Spinella Pais honoured the artistes and donors on behalf of the producer.
Joshwa D’Souza compered the stage programme.

There will be another show of the drama at St Antony Ashram, Jeppu open ground on Sunday, February 25 at 6 pm. There is ample parking space at the Ashram.
