Mangaluru, Feb 19: BJP national president Amit Shah arrived in the city late evening on Monday February 19.
Amit Shah landed at Mangaluru International Airport here after 7.30 pm, two hours later than scheduled.
BJP district president Sanjeeva Matandoor welcomed Amit Shah and felicitated him with a shawl and 'Peta' on a stage that was specially put up for the occasion at Kenjar.
The district BJP had planned to hold a brief public gathering at Kenjar which Amit Shah was expected to address. However, the party members and workers who had gathered to hear their leader were disappointed as Amit Shah chose not to speak.
Instead, Shah waved at the supporters, wished them and left the venue. Sources said that due to the delay in his arrival, he cancelled his speech.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP district president Sanjeeva Matandoor, party leaders Vedavyas Kamath, former ministers Nagaraj Shetty and Krishna J Palemar, M B Puranik and others were present.
Thereafter, Amit Shah left for Subrahmanya where he would be staying overnight.
