Mangaluru: Shoppers flock to Bendore hall as 'Pop-up Market' begins on high note

Mangaluru, Feb 17: Shoppers and foodies flocked to St Sebastian Church hall, Bendore here on Saturday February 17 as the two-day 'Pop-up Market' comprising 40 stalls including apparel, bags, fashion accessories, home decor, sanitation and personal hygiene products, bakery, food stalls and much more began on a high note here.

Parish priest of Bendore Church Fr Anthony Serrao inaugurated the two-day activity-filled shopping event in the presence of organizer Rajesh and others.

The Pop-up Market is aimed at providing a platform to young entrepreneurs and businesses from the city to showcase their products and services to the local Mangalurean community. 'Pop-up Market' also received a special mention in February's edition of Jet Airways in-flight magazine for its local experience.

The event layout has prime stalls and large shopping areas, allowing smooth access at the venue to view the products on display. Shoppers gathered around stalls like LoL Studio featuring fashion accessories and Bookberry's, a popular choice for variety of kids' books. Party Bazaar showcases kids party items and products which are great for celebrating birthdays. Cleanline exhibited its hygiene products for home and office needs, with a special zone to view the product range.

New to the event this year is Phoenix, providing customised car interiors and upholstery of premium European leather. It also features an experience zone for the event’s visitors to get a feel of the products.

Those planning weddings and other occasions have a special corner with Jewel Art from Bengaluru with its glitzy one gram gold and Fashion Boutique with its range of stunning sarees. Mudrak by Poornima Mallya brings back its exclusive collection of bedspreads and handlooms to the event.

The event is not just about shopping. There is even a makeover on offer for visitors, with Bliss Unisex Salon's expert beauty consultants ready to let customers indulge in a refreshing experience.

My Road Runner, Mangaluru’s first and unique runner services are participating as the delivery partner for the event. They deliver grocery, fresh veggies, meat, and fish and also deliver from the menu of restaurants all around the city. Their services immensely benefit the local community especially busy professionals, elderly and retired individuals who would like the convenience and assured quality of their service.

The event also features a variety of free activities for kids organised by Hakuna Matata Club, activity partner for the event. Amongst the activities organized are calligraphy, science experiments and drawing sessions which every kid should participate in. A variety of food counters, awaits the visitors at ‘Pop-up Market’. What is unique is that, each food stall has something different to provide, which is sure to tickle the taste buds of Mangaloreans. Stalls such Nilagiris, Masterwurst, Glucoholt and many other stalls put up.

Entry to ‘Pop-up Market’ is free. Families this weekend can make use of this opportunity as a fun outing. The timing for the event on both the days will be 11 am to 9 pm.

The was also a live show scheduled on the same day. On February 18, there will be dance performance by 'Fitt Wood'.

    Very interesting and praiseworthy. There should be such events in all venues where feasts and festivals take place on a regular basis. Showcasing local services, such as home delivery of food options is a great boon to retired and elderly, especially those living alone. Perhaps some charity will volunteer to give free rides to and fro to these pop-up stores to the elderly.
