Karkalla, Feb 16: The feast of St. Anthony’s Relic was celebrated with fervor and devotion at St Anthony’s Chapel at Pakala, Manjarpalke, near Belman, on Thursday, February 15. The priests of St Joseph’s parish, Belman, have been serving the faithful in their spiritual needs at the chapel from the past 41 years.
The festive Eucharistic Mass concelebrated by Fr Albun Rodrigues, professor of St Joseph Seminary, Mangaluru and parish priest of Thannirbavi along with 14 priests at the chapel.
The homily was based on family life. Prior to mass, candles of honor were given to the donators and benefactors. Fr Edwin D’Souza expressed gratitude to all concerned after the end of the celebrations. Msgr Baptist Menezes gave a brief festive message to all devotees of St Anthony at the end and inaugurated St Antony’s Chapel, Pakala, Manjarpalke’s documentary.
Nearly 2,000 devotees of St Antony from Udupi diocese and neighboring dioceses participated in the festive celebration of St Anthony Relic. Festive meal was served to devotees after the Holy Mass.
Secretary Gretta D’Souza welcomed the gathering.
Belman church assitant parish priest Fr Roy Lobo, parish council vice-president Alwyn Agera and secretary Faustine D’Souza, and St Antony’s Shrine committee president Gregory Menezes were also present.
