Mangalore: Cardiac Surgery at KSHEMA Gives Little Shahul New Lease of Life

Mangalore, Aug 5: The doctors at K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA, have successfully carried out a complicated heart surgery on five-year-old Shahul, recently. Known medically as 'total correction of tetrology of fallot', the surgery was conducted with the help of a heart-lung machine.
Little Shahul had been diagnosed with congenital cyanotic heart disease following breathing problems with mild exertion.
The surgery took four hours and Shahul was shifted out of the ICU by the third post-operative day. Having made a smooth, uneventful recovery, the boy is ready to be discharged from the hospital.
The team of doctors who treated Shahul includes Dr M Goplakrishnan, Dr Subrahmanyam K, Dr Rajesh U, Dr Sajan Koshy, Dr Manjunath Kamath, and Dr Krishnaprasad. The cardiac facility at KSHEMA has once again proven that it is capable of treating most congenital heart defects with good success rates.
