Kundapur, Feb 9: Kundapur police have established the identity of the half charred body of a man found in Neramballi, Hangaluru here on Thursday, February 8.
The deceased is said to be Vaderahobli resident Shekar Poojary (40).
Shekhar had gone out from home on Wednesday morning at 11 am and never returned. His family sources said that he was an alcoholic and used to go out of the house several times and remain out for two or three days. His family members contacted the police station after the half burnt body was found on Thursday.
How was the body identified?
The bicycle of the dead man was found a little away from the place where the body was discovered. Shekhar had also lost a tooth earlier. He was identified as Shekar on the basis of these two things.
Murder suspected
Locals say that some miscreants play cards in the barren land where the incident took place. Shekar Poojary might have come to play here. Meanwhile there might have been quarrels and assaults. Shekar might have died while fighting with others. The miscreants might have set fire to the grass to destroy evidence, they suspect.
It has been a riddle for locals that a resident of distant Vaderahobli came to Neramballi and died a mysterious death.
