Mangaluru, Feb 8: Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Thursday February 8 condemned the issuance of circular by religious endowment department regarding the government's proposed move to take Maths and other religious places under its control.
Addressing a press meet here, VHP working president M B Puranik said, "The state government has stepped up its policy against Hindus. When the Congress came to power in the state, several cases registered against minorities were withdrawn but what about the majorities, are they not innocents? Now this latest move by the state government has been inittiated when election is round the corner, with the motive of gaining votes.
"The state government wants to control only the Maths and other religious places, but what about th Wakf board where there are several irregularities taking place and also the Christian board? Why is the state government not bothered about controling these. Why does it have a soft corner for them? Congress has been ruling the state from the past four years. What was the urgency to issue a circular on controling Maths and temples just when election is approaching?" he questioned.
"Ever since coming to power, this government has created differences between majority and minority communities. We do not have such biased system and we treat everyone as equals. This policy was preplanned and is a conspiracy against Hindus," alleged Puranik.
When asked about CM Siddaramaiah taking officials to task over the issue, M B Puranik said, "We welcome Siddaramaiah's move."
Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell, VHP district secretary Shivananda Mendon, district convenor Praveen Kuthar and Bhujanga Kulal and others were present.
