Bengaluru, Feb 8: Karnataka chief minister (CM), Siddaramiah, is said to have expressed anger at the issuance circular by religious endowments department about the government's initiative on the issue of taking Maths and other religious places into its control.
The chief minister is learnt to have summoned muzrai minister, Rudrappa Lamani, and officials, to his home office, 'Krishna', on Wednesday February 7 evening. He wanted to know from them whether issuance of such a circular was a dire need at a time when election is approaching. It is said that the officials issued the circular without even bringing it to the knowledge of the minister. Siddaramaiah took the officials to task on this aspect too. He also wanted to know from the minister what he has been doing in the matter.
It is said that there is opposition for the said circular from within Congress party itself. It is said that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr G Parameshwar, speaking to his close ones, wondered whether it was necessary to issue such a circular without discussing the same in the party forums when election is fast approaching.
