Bantwal, Feb 2: A ghastly accident between a private bus and an Omni car on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru national highway at Mani here on Friday February 2, resulting in serious injuries to the Omni driver. The accident occured while trying to avoid hitting a snake.

Mohan (32), a resident of Karaya near Uppinangady who was driving the Omni was suffered serious injuries in the accident.

Mohan was driving from Mangaluru towards Uppinangady while the bus was plying towards Mangaluru.

It is learnt that a snake suddenly appeared in front of another car, whose driver applied sudden brakes to avoid hitting the reptile. The bus driver who was just behind the car veered to the side in order to avoid ramming into the car, and in turn dashed head-on into Mohan's Omni which was moving in the opposite direction at that moment.

The Omni was completely mangled. Some of the parts even came under the bus' tyres.

Unfortunately, the snake whose life the car driver was trying to save was also injured and died on the spot.

Mohan was taken to a hospital in Mangaluru by 108 ambulance.

Vittal police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

Now a days we are giving more respect to animal lives than human lives.Trying to save animal at your own cost is foolishness.

In a country like india you need to hit the brake be it school or national park. There is nothing wrong with it. Overspeeding is the result of accident. The bus must be ceased.

someone applying break when seeing animal or human being is not anyting surprising.. it is natural instinct.. you too will do it.... you don't have to take pride in linking it to cow.

I am very much surprised. People are giving life to save animals such as snakes, dogs , cows etc.

Animals life is anyway short. Being human beings with out thinking giving life to animals. See driver has to spend money in the hospital for medicine and other things. He has to repair the car. He has to take rest for long time till he becomes fit to work. Unforgettable scar in his memory.

Let God almighty give him strength to bear pain. Get well soon my dear brother.

Even driving laws tells to save many lives of people no necessary to save single persons life. Nowadays people are more bothered about cows , monkeys, dogs ,snakes than humans.

That's how we are brought up. Especially when the animal or reptile relates to the holy books we try to save them in order to escape from the curse. But time has now come to a point where we should be able to differentiate between the creator and the creation and take decisions rationally..
