Bengaluru, Jan 31: Connectivity to grassroots and reaching out to each of the over a crore households in the State is the key to winning the ensuing assembly polls, said Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Campaign Committee Chairman D K Shivakumar in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Briefing reporters after a meeting of the senior party leaders including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, AICC General Secretary and State party in-charge K C Venugopal, KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara and others at the Congress Bhavan, Shivakumar said the party was fully geared to face the elections making use of all the tools and strategies on the basis of the State Government’s credible performance.
Shivakumar, who is also the State’s Energy Minister, said the Campaign Committee chalked out broad strategies and an action plan to be implemented every single day over the next three months propagating the Government’s achievements of delivering on almost all the pre-poll promises of 2013 and win a massive mandate to take the State forward over the next five years.
The KPCC Campaign Committee meeting held a day after the day-long ``Namma Kshetra, Namma Hone’’ (Our Constituency, Our Responsibility) was attended by KPCC Working Presidents Dinesh Gundu Rao and S R Patil, AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad and former Union Ministers Oscar Fernandes and Margaret Alva, AICC Social Media Cell Convenor and former MP Ramya, State Ministers Umashree, K J George, Dr H C Mahadevappa. Krishna Byre Gowda and Priayank Kharge among others.
"We will make use of multiple channels including print and visual media, social media, public meetings and other small roadside meetings to meet a wide cross-section or people and reach out to every household in the State. Our target is to be connected to 1.10 crore households in the next three months,’’ Shivakumar said.
He said the very presence of all senior leaders and ministers down from the Chief Minister signalled the strong message to all the Congress workers and the people at large that the party remained united and will spare no efforts to win the support of the electorate.
"We have to put our heart and soul into the campaign to reach out and convince the people without playing mind games as set out by our President Rahul Gandhi,’’ he said the Congress poll campaign will be based on issues affecting the people and the State while emphasising on the achievements of the Government during the last five years while the BJP is intent on spreading lies and communal poison,’’ he said describing all the Congress workers engaged in the campaign work as soldiers fighting with a mission to win.
"All our party workers engaged in campaign work are our dedicated soldiers, who will communicate the achievements of Congress-led UPA rule in Delhi and the Siddaramaiah government as against the broken and false promises of BJP rule in Delhi and the multiple scams in the State when it (BJP) was in power,’’ he said.
Karnataka has emerged as a hot global investment destination and successfully held various mega evens such as Global Investor Meet, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and many other agriculture-related events, he said pointing out that at least 10-15 partymen assigned to each of the 57,000 polling booths in all the 224 assembly constituencies will speak with facts and figures to counter the false propaganda of BJP and show that why the 6.5 crore people of Karnataka will bless the party.
"The forthcoming assembly elections is a challenge to each and every Congress worker and will herald a better and bright future for the party,’’ Shivakumar added.
