Mangaluru, Jan 30: “Parents should encourage and guide students to inculcate in them the art of independent way of thinking along with academic studies from text books,” said Severine Rosario, programme coordinator of Center for Advance Learning.
She spoke as resource person at the programme held at Milagres Jubilee hall on Friday January 26 where talent awards of Fudar Prathistan were given away for the year 2018.
Fudar Prathistan is an organization that responds to the educational needs of Catholic students in Mangaluru. A total of 166 students from the city and Udupi diocese limits who have secured highest marks in SSLC and PUC examinations and ranks in degree examination were presented medals, certificates and cash awards on the occasion.
Karnataka circle chief post master general Dr Charles Lobo inaugurated the programme. He said that felicitations and awards increase the initiative among children to study hard. He called on catholic students to join government departments for jobs.
Fudar Prathistan president John D'Silva presided over the programme. Catholic Sabha organization Mangaluru president Anil Lobo and Udupi president Valerian Fernandes were the chief guests. Treasurer Elroy Kiran Crasto, Fr J B Crasta, Fr Vincent Victor Menezes, Fr Stanley Pereira and others were present. Fudar Prathistan vice president Fr Walter D'Mello welcomed everyone. Secretary L J Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. Ida Furtado and Vivid compered the programme.
