Mangaluru, Jan 22: Scientist of Udupi-based Susi Global Research Centre, Vijay Kumar Hegde, met union minister for commerce and industry, Suresh Prabhu, here on Sunday January 21 and held consultation over the proposal to generate power with the help of sea waves.

Suresh Prabhu expressed appreciation for the interest undertaken by the centre in the fields of research and concern for environment. "Our country is in need of alternate fuel. The government always recognizes and encourages researchers. Generation of power with waves will empower the country further," he stated.

Video footages of successful generation of power through waves on experimental basis, which were captured on video, were shown to the minister on this occasion. Former MLA, Yogish Bhat, informed the central minister about the proposed project of power generation at Maravanthe, Kundapur. The minister assured full support from the government. Prabhu also invited Vijay Kumar Shetty to New Delhi for holding discussions with the department concerned.
