Boost to millet production as IIMR signs MoU for Nutricereal Processing Technologies

Bengaluru, Jan 20: Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the International Trade Fair 2018 with Millet Entrepreneurs and Food Processors on Nutricereal Processing Technologies.

IIMR is an arm of Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), a Central Government organization for promoting research and increasing the production of millets with a view to help especially dryland farmers.

It also aims at increasing the demand for the products, while providing nutritious food at affordable price to the public at large, especially the economically poor classes.

As part of the outreach strategy, ICAR-IIMR is commercializing its Nutricereals based food processing technologies through licensing to enterprises /start-ups/ Food Processors trying to make a remarkable impact in the development of Millets.  

As a part of license, ICAR-IIMR also offers R&D support, Processing, Training, Capacity Building Technical and Business Incubation support through its Technology Business Incubator (TBI) supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST).

As a part of the auspicious occasion of International Trade Fair - Organics and Millets 2018 at Bengaluru, ICAR-IIMR signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 5 millet based enterprises which includes:

• M/s. Sresta Organics- Hyderabad (TS),
• M/s. My Green Mart- Bengaluru (KA)
• M/s.Ganaay Millets Pvt Ltd- Vijaywada (AP)
• M/s.Rich Millets- Hyderabad (TS) and
• M/s. Boinpallys Agro Food Products Private Limited-Hyderabad (TS) 

A combination of 20 of ICAR-IIMR technologies has been licensed to the listed enterprises with a technology fee averaging Rs.1.5 lakh per each MOU with a provision to scale up these partnerships in a collaborative mode for creating a social impact by generating demand for millets in the country there by enhancing the share of Millets farmer in consumer rupee.
