Puttur, Jan 20: The house belonging to dalit leader Dayanand Mittabail, resident of Mittabail of Kombaru village was gutted in fire late night on Thursday January 18.
All the items inside the house including valuable records, clothing and food grains were destroyed in the mishap.
The residents of the house had gone to a relative's house for an overnight sleep to avoid the possibility of attack by wild elephants, which are seen every now and then in the vicinity of Kombaru village. This incident came to light only when the family members returned to their house in the morning of Friday January 19.
