Udupi, Jan 17: At a press meet held at BJP office in Kadiyali here, on Tuesday January 16, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar said, "The members of BJP Karkala constituency have decided to hold a 'day night dharna' at Karkala, to condemn the delay of the proposed construction of Town Hall, there.

"The former Congress central minister Veerappa Moily on January 19, 2014 had laid the foundation stone for many works, but construction has not begun for many of them. Foundation stone for construction of a Pura Bhavan (town hall) near Bandimatt in Karkala at a cost Rs 2 crore has also been laid, however even after four years, nothing has begun.

"The people of Karkala have blessed the Congress party for 36 long years. Chief minister of Karnataka had made many promises, but has forgotten all of them. They are now a legacy for him.

"The foundation stone laid for the construction of a gallery for Lava-Kusha Kambala ground at Miyar village, Karkala at a cost of Rs 1 crore dates back to January 2014 and has not been touched till now. The concerned department should present a clear report on released funds.

"Programmes are only organised to earn claps from the public.

"To pressurize the completion of the sanctioned projects at the earliest, a day long protest will be staged where questions on three major projects, namely Town Hall, boat for Anekere and gallery for Kambala ground will be asked.

"The dharna will be held near on January 19 Bandimatt at 9 am and continue till 10 am the next day morning.

"At the protest, the government must give us the status of the above proposed projects.

"The Karnataka government has come here on false promises. It is a party, which opposes development and revolution. We will also put forth our other demands like deemed forest, 94CC and few other projects which are supposed attain completion by January."

District BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, Kuyladi Suresh Nayak, Naveen Kumar Kuthyar and others were present at the press meet.
