Bengaluru, Jan 13: A team of engineering students of Bengaluru’s leading professional college, R V College of Engineering, have three new race cars, the combustion (AMF RZX8- CO), hybrid (AMF X8-HY) and electric (AMF-RZX8 -ELE) platforms for the 2018 race season under the brand name, Ashwa Racing.
The team unveiled three more prototypes, one of which was hybrid model, which would take part in the US racing event in April-May this year.
The team members studying in their 6th semester will be travelling to New Hampshire, USA for their upcoming event – ‘Formula Hybrid’, which will be held from May 1 to 5 in the ‘New Hampshire motor speedway’, one of the most picturesque tracks in NASCAR racing history.
This will be the fourth year of participation for the team in the hybrid event, the previous event resulting in the team bagging the second place overall among the many teams that took part.
The combustion vehicle (210 kg without driver) development is headed by team captain Sweekruth Shetty, Project Manager Rakesh H.N, Chief Engineer Prateek Bhustali. The hybrid racing vehicle (300 kg) development is headed by team captain Asfan Khan, project manager Suhas B U, chief engineer Uday Naik and chief communication officer Tarun Kasa.
The electric vehicle (200kg) development is headed by team captain Pranave Nanda, project manager Rahul S D, chief engineer Gautam Singh and chief communication officer Srivatsa Deshpande.
Ashwa Mobility primarily comprises a team of undergraduate engineers who conceptualise, design and fabricate prototypes with its strength in developing formula-style race cars, which compete both at national and international events with teams from established universities around the world.
“A love for race cars and a passion to design and build them is the dream of the group of engineering students from the college,” said Ravindra S Kulkarni, college faculty and advisor of the project.
Ashwa Mobility promotes the Mobility Engineering development project. The objective of the organization is to provide a platform for students to experience Combustion, Hybrid, and Electric vehicle technology.
It has diversified into developing the Open Source Vehicle technology in the driver and driverless platforms .The future - rapid, economic and environmental friendly transportation solutions, in Urban, Rapid and mass categories .One such under the mass category is the Hyperloop.
Ashwa Racing, conceived in 2003, has come a long way since it designed its first race car in 2005. Over the past decade, the team has built more than a dozen of combustion models.
Ashwa Mobility, primarily comprises a team of undergraduate engineers, promotes the mobility engineering development project. The team is steered and guided by Arunraj Subbaraj, who is the Founder and the Chief Mentor of Ashwa Mobility.
