Hassan: Bengaluru-Dharmasthala Airavatha bus accident – 8 die, 10 injured

Hassan, Jan 13: In an accident that took place at Shanthigrama near Hassan, 8 persons died and 10 persons suffered injuries.

The accident took place at around 3.30 am on Saturday , January 13.

As per details available, Airavatha luxury bus belonging to KSRTC was travelling from Bengaluru to Dharmasthala. When it reached Shanthigrama, it overturned as the driver lost control of the bus. As a result, 8 persons died and 10 persons suffered injuries.

The injured have been taken to government hospital in Hassan.

    CM is travelling all over State in new multi-axle Volvo bus of KSRTC modified to his requirements and politicsl rallies at tax payers expense where as common man is travelling in these ordinary coffins which are way past their life.

    If some thing hit with private vehicle KSRTC management will tell our driver saved so many lives and our driver efficent driver. Blame on private vehicle driver.

    Now KSRTC bus only met with an accident no statement from KSRTC Management.

    I feel sad for the expired brothers and sister. Very sad news. It is accident. We cannot blame anybody.

    Driving between 3am to 5am in all long distance buses must ban. Instead of death reaching destination late is far better.

    shame on you KSRTC as serial major bus accidents are happening back to back and within a week u can press meet and say ita something/someone else problem not your driver or bus.

    Whats your target to achive in this trip ? overspeeding to send people from sleep to deep death sleep? have proper speed restrictor on your buses ,as we travel on ksrtc now a days we feel like there is no speed governor at all because they reach mangalore bangalore so early even roads are being worst on ghat.

    we dont want to loose any more life for your neglecence in handling these kind of situation from occuring again and again.

    this is from experience i am writing this .very sad for departed souls . rest in peace.

    We cannot blame any drivers ,

    for any accidents road engineers are more responsible, in many areas the plan is some thing different than what is executed with influence of local leaders,

    people should be aware of road design before executing.

    Here in dubai road are built awesome
    this leaders, engineers and contractors dont know what will happen when they die.

    We do not the reasons for accident.

    But we were normally of the opinion that KSRTC drivers are professional drivers and are safe compared to private bus drivers.

    KSRTC should give more importance to safety than profit.

    Very sad news. May their souls rest in peace. KSRTC should deploy two drivers for Long routes like this. So that accidents may be stopped in overnight trips.

    Airawat usually have 2 drivers for long routes. The non duty driver usually sleeps on the entire length of the last row seats as long as there is no passenger. If there is even one passenger, they'll sit on the front co-driver's (conductor) seat.
    I'm sure yesterday all buses would have been packed for to this long weekend holiday rush, so obviously one of the driver's wasn't sufficiently rested before starting the trip.
    KSRTC must know that along with keeping extra drivers, they should ensure drivers get sufficient rest before they start duty.

    KSRTC has to come out of its slumber. Their drivers are either over worked or drive pretty old I'll maintained buses.
    This is my personal experience, as a daily traveller to Manipal and back. All the Volvo buses that has been sent from Bangalore are old and rejected there are brought here. There is no guarantee that the bus will arrive or bus will reach its destination. The drivers and conductors bear the brunt from the passengers.
    Just yesterday the bus that left at 9am to Manipal was never in a position to ferry passengers.
