Udupi: Catholicos Baselios Marthoma arrives in Brahmavar to consecrate St Mary’s Cathedral

Udupi, Jan 10: Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, the supreme head of the Indian Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church arrived at Mangaluru airport here on Wednesday January 10. Then he proceeded to Brahmavar. 

He is visiting Brahmavar for the consecration of renovated St Mary's Orthodox Syrian Cathedral scheduled on January 11 and 12.

He was accorded warm welcome by the Brahmavar diocesan metropolitan HG Yakob Mar Elias. 


 
 


 

 

 

 

Fr CA Isaac, the vicar general of Brahmavar St Mary's Orthodox Syrian Cathedral, Asst Vicars Fr Lawrence D’souza, Fr David Crasta, Fr Abraham Kuriakose, Fr Noel Lewis, Fr Joseph Chacko, Anil Rodrigues, trustee, Alan Rohan Vaz, convener- renovation committee, and other managing committee members and faithful received the Catholicos.

Catholicos Baselios was taken in a vehicle procession from Mangaluru airport to Brahmavar St Mary's Orthodox Syrian Cathedral.

On arriving at the cathedral, Fr CA officially welcomed the Catholicos by handing over the candle. A huge number of faithful were present to welcome him.  

Catholicos led the prayers in the church premises and addressed the gathering.

Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, the supreme head of Indian (Malankara) Orthodox Church will consecrate renovated St Mary's Cathedral on January 11 and 12 along with the diocesan Bishop, Yakob Mar Elias and many other bishops.

On January 12, after the consecration, an inaugural meet will be hosted. Home minister Ramalinga Reddy, KJ George, Pramod Madhwaraj and many other dignitaries from political, religious and social walks of life shall grace the occasion.
