Bantwal: Car hits tree – child dies, six members of family seriously injured

Bantwal, Jan 10: In an accident, a car hit a roadside tree at Badagundi, near Manihalla here on Wednesday, January 10. A baby died later without responding to treatment and six members of the family are seriously injured. They have been admitted in a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The injured have been identified Jerman, Roshan, Lavita, Cecilia Baretto, Omni driver Robin and one child, all residents of Badagundi.



“Roshan, a gulf employee had come on vacation recently. The driver lost the control and hit the tree at Badagundi curve when the family in it was returning home from a beach. Roshan was planning to return to Kuwait tomorrow for work,” said local people.

Bantwal traffic police arrived at the spot and took further action.

    Sad story again. People buy cars looking at price, no importance given to Safety standards. Govt should introduce strigent laws for Private cars, minimum safety standards like Airbags, ABS, should be made compulsory.

    Install speed governors in all the vehicles and make them drive at maximum 50km/hour..
    Without these you may cover extra 30km with current road conditions with extra risk ...

    These road accidents are really horrible...
    I still remember the tragic accident where we lost lives from Bantakal around year 2000....
    Drivers have to be drivers...
    Not race drivers...
    If feel sleepy pull aside and sleep... Do not kill...
