Bantwal, Jan 10: Hindu Jagran Vedike said that the state high court has stayed operation of the externment order issued by Dakshina Kannada district administration against leader of the Vedike, Ratnakar Shetty.
On December 30, 2017, after an externment order was issued against Shetty, he had been dropped off in Udupi district by the police here. After this incident, leaders of the organization had held continuous protest demonstration in front of the taluk office at B C Road here from January 1 to 6. Vedike activists had charged the state government of suppressing Hindu organizations and alleged that unknown hands had worked behind Shetty's externment.
Ratnakar Shetty was on a visit to Lord Anjaneya temple at Nandavar when the police showed him the externment order and dropped him out of the district in their vehicle. Out of nine cases registered against Shetty, one was reportedly relating to murder, in which Shetty had been exonerated. In the other eight cases relating to assault, disturbance and commotion, he had been absolved three years ago.
The externment order had been received by the police department on December 28 but they executed it on December 30.
Along with Shetty, Ibrahim Khaleel from Baltila too had been externed, and the police had taken him to Hassan in execution of this order.
