Mangaluru, Jan 10: The car of B K Imthiaz, district president of DYFI was reportedly followed by miscreants on bikes and hit from behind apparently with an ulterior motive of assaulting him when his car stopped.
In his complaint to Barke police station on January 8, he stated that he was returning to his residence at Pandeshwar at around 9.15 pm on January 8 after finishing his programme at DYFI unit in Surathkal, when a Bullet bike followed his Maruti Celerio car from Ballalbagh. The bike hit his car from behind on the right hand side near TMA Pai road hump. The person on the bike went ahead and looked at him.
“I thought of stopping the car when the Bullet bike turned towards Kodialguthu road. But the bike went ahead without stopping. Therefore, I suspected that it may be a conspiracy for an unknown act. As I went ahead, I saw another bike following my car. I stopped my car there. I found that the mud guard was stuck to the rear tyre. When the bike that was behind me went past, I got down and removed the mud guard stuck to the tyre. I saw the bike that was following me, had stopped a little further and saw that it was an indication of danger and got back. If I had gone forward, I was likely to be assaulted.”
He has requested the police in the complaint to take suitable action against those who were trying to cause bodily harm to him.
