Mangaluru, Jan 9: BJP Suratkal block president Dr Y Bharat Shetty on Wednesday January 9 said that a defamation case of Rs one crore has been filed against JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy for alleging BJP's involvement in the Deepak murder case.
Addressing a press meet here, Dr Bharat Shetty said, "Without any political maturity and concern for society, the Congress and the JD(S) leaders are giving statements on Deepak murder.
"Immediately after Deepak's death, the local MLA gave a statement alleging the involvement of BJP. Being a responsible representative, how can he make such statements?" he questioned, in a veiled reference to Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava.
"Yesterday while speaking to reporters in Mysuru former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy named a local BJP leader and alleged his direct involvement in the murder. It is a baseless allegation and we strongly condemn this. We already filed a Rs one-crore defamation case against Kumaraswamy regarding this. Such allegations are purely political motivated," he said.
"Kumaraswamy has intentionally given this statement to mislead the investigation. So police should bring him too in the frame of their investigation. He is trying to save some people who are actually involved in the case," he added.
Commenting on chief minister Siddaramaiah's visit to the residences of Deepak and Basheer, he said, "The CM's visit to Deepak's and Basheer's houses was also political motivated. At the time of Sharath Madivala's death the CM did not show any interest in visiting his family or paying homage to his mortal remains. The Congress leaders intentionally put pressure on the hospital and delayed the announcement of Sharath's death as the CM was visitng the city."
