Kundapur, Jan 9: A motorbike that had been parked in front of a house at Suggibail behind Jamia Masjid, Gangolli, was set afire during the early hours of Monday January 8.
The bike belongs to Abdul Majeed, Suggibail. He had parked his motor bike in front of his home. After midnight on Sunday, some miscreants torched his motorbike, it is said. The vehicle was completely burnt down.
It is learnt that Majeed was awake till 2 am before going to sleep that night. The bike was torched some time thereafter. Unsavoury incidents have been occurring in the region one after the other since the last few days. Apparently mischief mongers are trying to disturb peace in the society and these efforts have given rise to a sense of tension and apprehension in the minds of the people.
Only a handful of Hindus live behind Jamia Masjid area. Torching of a motorbike belonging to a person from a community that has predominant presence in the area has raised many eyebrows. Doubts are being expressed about this incident.
Police sub-inspector of Gangolli, Vinayak Billawa, visited the spot and undertook verification. A case was registered at Gangolli police station.
